DoubleTree Hilton Wellington T&G Building Wellington

New Zealand’s capital city Wellington is set to become the home of the region’s third DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.

The signing is a franchise agreement with Sarin Investments to operate DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington and the seven-story hotel is expected to open in late 2017 and is located on Lambton Quay.

“DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington is a wonderful addition to our growing portfolio of hotels across Australasia,” said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton.

“The hotel boasts an ideal location for both the business and leisure traveller with close proximity to the central business district and walking distance to the celebrated Te Papa Museum, the iconic cable car, numerous unique shops and vibrant cafes.”

The property is operated by Sarin Investments and is currently undergoing extensive work converting the iconic T&G Building to a hotel.

Raman Sarin, chairman of Sarin Investments, said: “We are thrilled to undertake this project with Hilton and bring the world-renowned DoubleTree by Hilton brand to Wellington.

“It is also especially pleasing that we are partnering with Hilton to deliver Hilton’s first hotel in Wellington.”

The hotel will boast 108 stylish and comfortable rooms, including 21 suites, a restaurant, bar, boardroom and gym coupled with all the modern, thoughtful amenities our customers expect from the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.

“We are committed to growing Hilton’s presence in New Zealand and the signing of DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington is integral to our regional portfolio expansion plans for the country, which focus on the key cities as well as the leisure destinations across both the North and South Islands of New Zealand,” said Robert Scullin, vice president, development Australasia, Hilton.

Among the amenities that guests will enjoy includes Crabtree & Evelyn bath and body care products, complimentary high-speed internet access in public areas, and an industry-recognized service culture which is built around the idea of CARE (Create A Rewarding Experience) for guests, Team Members and the community.

DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington will participate in Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton’s 14 distinct brands.
