Art Series Hotel Group has appointed Andrew Edsor as the General Manager of their first Brisbane property, The Johnson, set to open in mid-September.

Beginning his career in hospitality over 20 years ago, Andrew is no stranger to the Art Series Hotel Group. Most recently the General Manager of The Watson in Adelaide, he has now relocated north to play a vital role in the opening of the Group’s first Queensland hotel. Before joining the Group, the majority of his experience is credit to his time with Quest Apartment Hotels, where he assisted in the opening of new hotels in every state of Australia.

“Andrew’s commitment to the Group over the past 18 months across two of our hotels has been a testament to his passion for art and hospitality,” said Will Deague, CEO of Art Series Hotel Group.

“Andrew’s role at The Johnson is to help bring our vision alive in a new market, and with his vast hotel industry experience particularly in hotel openings, we have no doubt that he is the right man for the job.”

Andrew was drawn to the Group by its out of the ordinary hotel experiences, infusing stimulating art encounters with truly engaging service and he looks forward to bringing these art inspired experiences to Brisbane through The Johnson.

Speaking about his new role at The Johnson, Andrew said: “I am so very privileged to have the opportunity to be involved in sharing the work of the hotel’s namesake and Australia’s leading abstract artist, Michael Johnson. His rich palate and reinterpretation of landscapes and natural forms in an abstract manner are a joy to be around. I will never tire of staring into Johnson’s inspirational work and discovering new elements and interpretation of what surrounds us. I look forward to sharing this experience with guests once the hotel opens.”

Andrew has watched with anticipation as the Brisbane region has become an increasingly popular destination with leisure and business visitors alike. He will ensure that the DNA of The Johnson will be like none other, adapting to the local community as well as ensuring that guests will wake up in an inspirational space.

The Johnson will be committed to the philosophy of ‘the art of vivid encounters’, centring on the artist’s love of nature, texture and timeless boundaries. The hotel will provide connected and inspiring spaces where a mirage of moments can occur – between guests, the artworks and beyond.
