QT Hotels and Resorts has announced an exciting collaboration between celebrated Australian-born, London-based artist Shaun Gladwell and their newest boutique hotel property QT Bondi.

Commissioned in consultation with QT Hotels and Resorts Art Curator Amanda Love, Gladwell will be QT Bondi’s featured artist with permanent displays of artworks inspired by the Bondi landscape.

“Shaun Gladwell draws extensively on the intense physical energy of the local context, blending kinetic movement with the landscape to evoke a brooding almost calming and still sense of romance,” said Love.

“This provides a fascinating juxtaposition against the almost extreme sport experience to provide a thoughtfully measured perspective that truly connects with the Bondi experience.”

Shaun credits this Bondi experience as a rich breeding ground of inspiration for his work.

“Filming ‘Storm Sequence’ at Bondi started a long love affair I’ve had recoding the kinetic energy of the landscape and I really love that. The Bondi landscape was essentially my studio for many years and my QT commission really encapsulates the energy and vibrancy of the local context through digital and sculptural mediums,” Gladwell said.

QT Bondi’s 69 individually-styled luxury guest suites have been designed in collaboration with renowned hotel designer Nic Graham of Nic Graham and Associates to capture a quintessentially chic Bondi experience, featuring original work by Shaun Gladwell in the hotel lobby.
