InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Oscars Hotels have signed a franchise agreement for a 146-room Holiday Inn hotel at Warwick Farm in Sydney’s South West.

Oscars Hotels purchased the Sunnybrook Hotel in April 2011 and with this agreement will undertake a multimillion-dollar refurbishment of the guest rooms and restaurant, after which the hotel will reopen as Holiday Inn Warwick Farm on September 10, 2013.

Following the refurbishment of all guest rooms and the hotel restaurant, the gymnasium and swimming pool will be fully upgraded, as will the adjoining Oscars Tavern and the meeting and events centre (both due for completion in early 2014).

“The signing of Holiday Inn Warwick Farm is significant to our strategy of expanding the Holiday Inn brand across New South Wales,” said IHG Australasia’s Head of Development, Phil Kasselis.

“The Liverpool local government area has been earmarked by the state as a major regional centre in Sydney, and this Holiday Inn will be ideally positioned to cater to growing demand for hotel accommodation there, offering a great guest experience.”

The hotel’s facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, a tavern adjacent to the hotel with gaming facilities, gymnasium, a meetings and events centre, heated outdoor swimming pool and onsite parking.

“We are tremendously excited about the re-launching of this property and becoming a member of the internationally-renowned Holiday Inn family,” said Bill Gravanis, owner of Oscars Hotels.

“We selected IHG as our partner for this hotel based on the strength of the Holiday Inn brand both here and worldwide, and its proven ability to deliver premium returns on the assets it represents.

“This hotel has a real opportunity to significantly increase its share of corporate, meetings and leisure business in Sydney’s south west, and IHG is the best partner to help us realise that potential.

“We have been impressed with IHG’s support to date, and in them we believe we have a partner that will assist us to maximize the asset’s value and deliver a great guest experience,” he said.

Holiday Inn Warwick Farm will be the 12th Holiday Inn operating in Australia and will join the family of 114 Holiday Inns currently operating throughout Asia-Pacific.
