Fairmont Raffles’ significant growth in Indonesia hit a major milestone recently, with the laying of the corner stone of the company’s new 371-room Fairmont Jakarta hotel.

The ceremony (pictured above is James Kaplan, center middle, Senior Vice President, Development, Asia Pacific/India for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International along with representatives from PT. Senayan Trikarya Sempana) also came just a week after Fairmont announced a resort in Bali that will reside alongside a new Raffles hotel on the holiday island.

Slated to open in 2015, Fairmont Jakarta is being developed in the city’s Central Business District, while the Bali properties will be perched on a ‘bukit’, or bluff, on the Balinese coastline with a spectacular and unobstructed view of the Indian Ocean.

Fairmont Bali will offer guests 170 luxurious guest rooms and suites as well as branded residences and the resort will also be home to the 80-room Raffles Bali, featuring one, two or three bedroom villas and branded residences with private plunge pools, outdoor dining and relaxation areas.

“Our entry into Bali marks the company’s first resort in South East Asia and will provide our guests with a rich and beautiful holiday destination in the region,” said Fairmont Hotels and Resorts President, Jennifer Fox.

“Expanding our global footprint is a key brand strategy and this resort will complement our existing hotels such as the recently opened Fairmont Makati in Manila and Fairmont Jaipur as well as the luxurious Fairmont Jakarta which will open in 2015.”

Denniston International, one of the industry’s leading hospitality design and planning firms, will oversee the project with their trademark approach of translating local culture into contemporary design.
