Newly renovated: Surfers Paradise Marriott

The newly refurbished Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa will host one of the Gold Coast’s most glamorous social events in January, The 2012 Magic Millions Hats and High Tea.

Held during the 2012 BMW Magic Millions Carnival on Thursday January 12, over 150 fashion-savvy ladies, racing VIPs and media will descend on the award-winning resort that has just completed a AUD$20 million makeover.

Channel Nine’s Alison Ariotti will host the day dripping in diamonds and jewellery from international award-winning jeweller, John Calleija, and Marina Mirage will showcase the latest in designer fashion ideally suited to Magic Millions Racing Carnival celebrations.

Held in support of the Marriott Resort’s chosen charity, Arundel Park Riding for Disabled, the social soiree will be an occasion of high fashion and high stakes as major raffles and prizes for best dressed and best hat are certainly worth vying for.

Renowned international award-winning jeweller, John Calleija, has come on board as a major sponsor of the event and is donating a stunning diamond necklace valued at $5800 for one lucky guest to take home.

Marriott’s Event Manager, Louise Bradfield said the ticket enquiries for the 2012 Hats and High Tea started immediately after last year’s event, and with a major prize from Calleija Jewellers on offer, tickets are sure to sell-out quickly.

“Marriott Hats and High Tea has certainly positioned itself as one of the events not to be missed during the Magic Millions Carnival,” she said.

“It’s the function to be seen at and one that has a loyal following of ladies who attend year after year, so we are expecting another sell-out event for 2012.

“The beautiful Garden Terrace is the perfect location with views to the northern Gold Coast, while the Marina Mirage fashion parade with well known milliner Hats by Tracy Mac, will provide the finishing touches to an elegant day.”

Marina Mirage, famous for its international and Australian designer labels, will host a salon-style showing, giving guests a preview of exceptional collections by iconic legends George Gross Harry Who and Carla Zampatti, along with vibrant new race wear and cocktail wear collections from Howard Showers, Bliss Emporium, John Cavill and Max & Co., all accompanied by exquisite handcrafted headwear designed by Tracy Mackinnon.

Marriott Executive Chef, Andrew Fraser has designed a beautiful selection of decadent high tea items together with a selection of summer salads, gourmet sandwiches, lavender scented macaroons, hand made chocolates filled with cherry ganashe and sunflower cup cakes that will be served with premium tea and coffee and a glass of champagne on arrival.

Tickets to the Marriott’s Hats & High Tea are priced at $99 per person and a range of accommodation packages are also available to visitors wishing to stay at the resort during the 2012 BMW Magic Millions Carnival.
