The four key figures behind the culinary helm of each Alila Resort and Villa property in Bali will converge at Alila Villas Soori’s Coast restaurant to present a special Alila Chefs Dinner on April 30, 2011.
The four talented chefs will be composing a collaborative symphony of flavors through a specialty dinner comprising western dishes with ingredients sourced from natural & indigenous produce all across Bali.
The four-in-one extravaganza comprises of Chef Eelke Plasmeijer of Alila Ubud, Chef Nyoman Santika of Alila Manggis, Chef Ashton Hall of host venue Alila Villas Soori, and Stefan Zijta of Alila Villas Uluwatu.
At Alila Ubud, Executive Chef Eelke Plasmeijer’s passion for cooking with fresh, organic ingredients makes him a perfect fit for Alila Ubud’s Plantation Restaurant. Fresh from his previous tenure as Chef de Cuisine at the Ma Joly & Kupu Kupu Barong Beach Resort, Chef Eelke was also the one responsible in setting up and refining Shy, a fine dining restaurant in Jakarta, as Sous Chef. Now, this affable Dutch Chef is literally at home at Alila Ubud, as he personally loves to cook out of his own garden and favors organic ingredients and Indonesian cuisine.
Chef Santika, a truly charming east Balinese chef, well loved for his culinary exploits, commands the kitchen brigade at Alila Manggis where he originally started and now returned from his overseas tenures in the Turks and Caicos Islands and Amanyara in the Caribbean. Chef Santika together with his culinary team at Seasalt Restaurant and the ever popular cooking class at Alila Manggis work their magic to incorporate locally sourced ingredients and produce in the dishes that they lovingly offer their guests.
Alila Villas Soori’s own Chef Ashton has extensive years of culinary experience under his belt, and arrives on the shores of West Bali’s Kelating beach, fresh from his previous post at the Felix Restaurant of The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. At Alila Villas Soori’s restaurants, this cool American Chef ingeniously tempts the palettes with his varied cooking techniques within his signature “ingredients driven” cuisine.
Chef Stefan Zijta of Alila Villas Uluwatu was previously the Executive Chef of Shy, the stunning Anouska Hempel-designed fine-dining restaurant in Jakarta. Stefan brings to Alila Villas Uluwatu his brand of innovative French cuisine prepared with local Balinese ingredients. A believer of regional produce, this creative young Dutch chef is known for his inspiring dishes that showcase his well-honed classical techniques.
