The NSW Mid-North Coast region has announced that the AUD$4 million upgrade to Rydges Port Macquarie, doubling its delegate capacity to 500, will be a showcase for the region’s stand at the upcoming AIME trade show in Melbourne (Feb 15-16).
The first stage of Rydges Port Macquarie’s upgrade – the Zebu Bar and Grill – opened in December 2010 after the entire ground floor of the 123-room property was demolished and redesigned to cater for up to 320 guests.
In August 2011 the final stage will be completed, featuring a refurbishment and expansion of the hotel’s conference space, lifting its capacity to 500 delegates in cocktail style, 310 in banquet style or 300 theatre style.
The Greater Port Macquarie Tourism stand at AIME will also showcase the new facilities at the Glasshouse Arts, Conference and Entertainment Centre, and highlight the region’s booming accommodation sector.
New openings and upgrades in Port Macquarie include Rydges (above), Mercure Centro Hotel, Quay North Apartments, Mantra Quayside and Macquarie Waters Boutique Apartment Hotel.
