New General Manager for Moxy Sydney Airport

Sid Bhatia has been appointed General Manager of Moxy Sydney Airport, effective 28 April 2025.

With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry across Australia and New Zealand, Bhatia’s previous positions include General Manager at Vibe Hotel and Cluster GM for TFE Hotels in the Northern Territory, where he successfully navigated the challenges of the pandemic and helped position the properties as market leaders.

In 2022, he was a finalist in Hotel Management magazine’s General Manager of the Year award.

Bhatia will oversee hotel operations, with a focus on enhancing the hotel’s vibrant culture and ensuring memorable stays for guests.

Moxy Sydney Airport said: Bhatia “has consistently fostered high-performing teams and delivered exceptional guest experiences”.

Dominic ‘Nic’ O’Donnell,

General Manager appointed at Brisbane Pullman

Pullman Brisbane King George Square has appointed Dominic ‘Nic’ O’Donnell to the position of General Manager.

O’Donnell has over 20 years of experience in hospitality and tourism, including at Traders Hotel, China and Shangri-La’s Rasa Risa Resort, Malaysia, Pacific International Hotel Cairns, Shangri-La Hotel the Marina Cairns, and the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort.

O’Donnell said he looks forward to driving further positive change and growth for the hotel.

Capstone bolsters team with four key hires

Capstone Hotel Management has appointed four new team members across various areas in the business.

Matt Nicholas

Matt Nicholas has been appointed Group Operations Manager; Katherine Wilson appointed Group Marketing Manager; Akshay Bangari is the new Cluster Sales Manager, Western Markets; and Chiqui Sayson has been named Marketing Executive.

Based in Auckland, Nicholas brings over 20 years of operational and commercial leadership experience across leading hospitality brands in New Zealand and abroad, including senior roles with Adina, Naumi Hotels, and Millennium Hotels.

Katherine Wilson

Joining Capstone’s Auckland office on 30 June, Wilson brings over 15 years of marketing and brand leadership experience across hospitality, retail, and entertainment sectors, including previous roles at Les Mills New Zealand, Stride Property, Event Cinemas, and The University of Auckland.

She will report to Director of Marketing Nona Jackson, who has returned to Capstone after a short hiatus. 

Chiqui Sayson

Bangari joins the Auckland team on May 26, bringing a strong background in luxury hospitality sales, including senior sales roles at InterContinental Wellington and Crowne Plaza Auckland, his role on 26 May.

Starting on 26 May in the Nelson office, Sayson brings 13 years of multi-market marketing experience including senior marketing roles in the Philippines and Malaysia and more recently in digital marketing with agencies in Nelson.  

Akshay Bangari

These strategic hires bring extensive expertise across operations, marketing, and commercial strategy, reinforcing Capstone’s commitment to delivering exceptional service, driving performance, and supporting its partners and properties nationwide.

The Langham, Gold Coast names new Marketing and Communications Director

The Langham, Gold Coast has appointed Stacey Plaine as Director of Marketing & Communications, effective April 28.

Plaine brings over 14 years of luxury hospitality experience to her new role, joining from Marriott International where she has been contributed to the commercial success of leading hotels across the UK, Europe, the Maldives, Japan and Australia and specialised in the development and launch of more than 30 distinctive restaurants and bars globally.

Stacey Plaine

In her most recent role, Plaines served as Director of Marketing at W Brisbane.
