Holiday Inn Townsville

IHG Hotels and Resorts’ Holiday Inn brand will make a return to Townsville under a partnership with Luxora Hotels and independent management company La Vie Hotels and Resorts.

Earlier this month, La Vie assumed management of Madison Plaza Townsville, a CBD property on the corner of Stanley Street and Flinders Street.

Following an extensive refurbishment and rebranding process, the property will open as a 93-room Holiday Inn Townsville in early 2026.

On completion, the hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, extensive conference and events facilities and the brand’s signature ‘Open Lobby’ concept.

“We are excited to join forces with Luxora Hotels and La Vie to bring Holiday Inn to Townsville,” said IHG Development Director Australasia and Pacific, Cameron Burke.

“We look forward to supporting Luxora in its vision to create Townsville’s leading midscale hotel. As part of the world’s largest brand family, we expect Holiday Inn to resonate with domestic and international travellers to Townsville and Far North Queensland more broadly.”

James Zhao of Luxora Hotels said he is proud to be working with IHG and La Vie to realise its vision of delivering premium hospitality experiences.

“Upon opening, Holiday Inn Townsville will deliver the exceptional, warm and welcoming experiences the brand is known for across the world and support the region’s tourism and business sectors,” he said.

The Townsville hotel project marks Luxora Hotels’ first investment in the Australian market.

“We are thrilled to be involved with Luxora Hotels’ first investment in Australia,” said La Vie Hotels and Resorts Chief Executive Office, Jerry Xu.

“They see great potential in the property and in the future of Queensland and Australian tourism, and we are aiming to maximise the performance of the property through upgraded management and new global branding.”

Located near Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Queensland Tropics Museum and Townsville Yacht Club, the hotel will cater to business and leisure travellers at an exciting time for the area in the build up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Queensland is in an exciting growth phase and this latest announcement continues our broader regional expansion strategy,” said Burke.

“It has been announced that several Olympic events will be held in Townsville and this, combined with the city serving as a strategic hub for industries including mining, energy and defence contributes to Townsville’s thriving economic and tourism landscape.

“The introduction of the globally recognised Holiday Inn brand reinforces IHG’s commitment to delivering world-class hospitality and expand its footprint in one of Australia’s most dynamic tourism and business destinations.”
