perth cultural centre rejuvenation

A $55 million rejuvenation of Perth Cultural Centre – the heart of Western Australia’s arts and culture scene – is now underway, with the redevelopment expected to bring a major boost to tourism.

The project, jointly funded by the Cook and Albanese Labor Governments, will create a vibrant and accessible hub connecting iconic cultural institutions, including the Art Gallery of WA, WA Museum Boola Bardip, and the State Library of WA.

Australian Hotels Association (WA) CEO, Bradley Woods said the rejuvenation will have a significant impact on tourism and hospitality in Perth and Western Australia.

“This project will breathe new life into our city, creating a vibrant cultural destination for visitors from across the state, the country and the globe,” Woods said.

“The enhanced public spaces, improved accessibility and expanded hospitality offerings will provide a significant boost to Perth’s CBD, benefiting local hotels, restaurants, cafes and small businesses.

“By creating a welcoming, modern and vibrant cultural hub, this redevelopment will help position Perth as a must-visit destination for travellers and ensure it remains at the forefront of Western Australia’s cultural and tourism economy.

“The inclusion of enhanced hospitality facilities, green spaces and a large screen for live event broadcasts will complement the existing cultural offerings, making the precinct a hub of activity for locals and tourists alike.”
