New consulting firm Hunter Connections references its partnership with MODA Sparkling in delivering sustainable water solutions with commercial intent
Andrew McKenna is well known to the industry through his connections to Salter Brothers Hospitality and now as a consultant through Hunter Connections. His longstanding relationship with sustainable water firm MODA provides a neat example.
“One of the great benefits of starting our own business has been the opportunity to introduce independent operators to trusted suppliers they may not have had access to before. Our relationship with MODA dates back nearly a decade, demonstrating that sustainability can be a win for all involved – enhancing the guest experience and reducing costs while obviously being better for the environment.”
“At Rydges Sydney Central, we first implemented MODA’s solution across the restaurant, bars and conference spaces, eventually extending it to crew rooms where it saved 10,000 plastic bottles per year. With Salter Brothers Hospitality the partnership has grown alongside their portfolio, now encompassing 15 properties. One of the major successes here was the installation of a micro bottling system at Spicers Guesthouse for minibar water bottles, which helped eliminate over 20,000 plastic bottles per year!”
MODA provides commercial alternatives to disposable water bottles. Andrew Campion, GM at MODA, adds “we improve the environment by improving business, so while reducing plastic is important in itself these solutions need to be commercially viable to do them at scale.”
“It’s not one size fits all. We assess how a property operates and what an optimal solution looks like, working back from a guest perspective. Some need systems for outlets, others hydration stations dispersed across the property, larger scale systems for events or a version of our ‘circular’ bottling system including auto dispensers, cleaning equipment, cappers and crates.”
Hunter Connections are proud to continue this long-standing relationship, bringing this innovative solution to more businesses both within and beyond the Hunter Valley.
“We’re talking about cost savings and operational benefits, even metrics that can help with sustainability targets and reporting, helping hotel corporate partners meet their goals and the criteria they are looking for to book with your property.”
