Marriott International is introducing its design-driven AC Hotels brand to the Australian market with the opening of AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank in April.

The property, which is owned by Capital Alliance, features 205 guest rooms and suites, contemporary foyer, elevated check-in lounge, infinity pool, bar, and restaurant.

Its modern design, by DKO Architecture, is focused on quality and functionality, and is inspired by the local area and the brand’s European heritage.

AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank General Manager, Harry Singh, said the brand brings a new style of hotel stay to the Australian market.

“Working in collaboration with leading architecture and design firm, DKO, we have brought to life the core elements of the AC design philosophy – every detail of the experience is meticulously over-thought to create a seamless stay,” Singh said.

“The AC brand is synonymous with sophisticated design with purpose, so guests have everything they need and nothing they don’t. We’ve orchestrated the entire hotel experience – our approach to every space is optimal comfort and utility through to modern décor, with open layouts offering functional beauty without distraction.”

Beyond the hotel’s outdoor infinity pool, which spans the width of the building, the hotel’s leisure offering also includes 24-hour fitness centre, food and beverage outlets, and the AC Lounge – a modern co-working space that transforms into a social hub by night.

The opening represents Marriott International’s ninth hotel in Melbourne and the third new hotel to open in the Victorian capital over the last 12 months.

“A key part of Marriott International’s growth strategy is the introduction of new brands into the market, particularly luxury and lifestyle brands that appeal to the changing needs of travellers,” said Marriott International, Area Vice President Australia, New Zealand & Pacific, Sean Hunt.

“Despite the challenges of the last almost two years, we are continuing to invest and expand our presence in the Melbourne market. Our portfolio in Melbourne features seven of Marriott International’s brands and AC Hotels brings one of our most exciting hotel experiences globally.”
