Hyatt Centric Melbourne will feature 280 rooms and will open to guests later this year.

Melbourne will serve as the debut city of the Hyatt Centric full-service lifestyle hotel later this year, with Hyatt outlining plans to launch the brand in the final months of 2021, HM can reveal.

The full-service lifestyle brand was introduced in 2015 and originally announced in 2017 for an Australian debut in Melbourne. Another destination Hyatt had flagged Hobart as a potential destination for the brand, however plans for this have not firmed or materialised.

Hyatt Centric Melbourne is a project the hotel operator has entered into with Melbourne developer Little Projects. The hotel will sit on Downie Street and will feature 280 rooms and suites.

Additional facilities will include a modern Australian restaurant inspired by the city’s foodie scene, along with a rooftop bar featuring views over the Yarra River and Southbank. Guests will also be able to access a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and business centre with meeting facilities.

The Hyatt Centric name was inspired by the brand’s mission of putting its guest at the centre of the action.

Hyatt said the Hyatt Centric brand has been thoughtfully designed to enable exploration and discovery.

“The lobby lounge is a launch pad providing guests with information about the most sought-after food, nightlife and activities the destination has to offer.

“The bar and restaurant are local hot spots where great conversations, locally inspired food and signature cocktails can be enjoyed.”

Rooms will feature environmentally conscious Beekind amenities, Bluetooth-enabled electronics and salon-grade hair dryers.
