HPA, an Australia-New Zealand healthcare procurement and technology leader, has partnered with United States company UV Angel, in a collaboration that allows hospitality, business, and other facilities to operate with improved safety. HPA is bringing the UV Angel Clean Air system to the region, a technology innovation that is critically relevant amid the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Ultraviolet light is widely deployed in a variety of formats as an effective sterilising solution in healthcare and workspaces. The most common expression of this technology utilises UV-C light, which has a comparatively short wavelength, ideal for penetrating microbial protective barriers. Disrupting their delicate DNA/RNA structures effectively neutralises affected pathogens.

UV Angel Clean Air is designed for uniquely superior performance in this application where clean air is vital to achieving optimal wellness outcomes. HPA’s roll out also supports use in hotels, restaurants, and public spaces, to expand the ability of enterprises and the community at large to safely return to normal.

  • The product is the result of years of advanced research and development in ultraviolet light and IoT-enabled technologies:
  • Room air is quietly and continuously drawn into a sealed UV-C treatment chamber
  • High-intensity UV-C light is used to neutralise airborne pathogens
  • Treated air is returned to the room, creating a safer environment
  • IoT connectivity allows control and integration into the facility’s technology stack

UV Angel Clean Air is unobtrusive, works continuously, and can be integrated directly into any ceiling. The device is ideally suited for use in a wide variety of spaces, without impacting role, operations, or functionality.

“Businesses and the community as a whole require immediate support from new technology solutions now more than ever, in light of continuing risk emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Shawn Wigham, Managing Director at HPA. “Our partnership with UV Angel allows hospitality, offices, workspaces, government buildings, and any organisation with public spaces to access a new and uniquely effective tool to better manage safety and health, for residents, employees, and visitors.”

HPA is already a trusted name among healthcare-involved enterprises and organisations in the Australia-New Zealand market. In addition to its role as a designer and procurer of solutions for its roster of clients, HPA also provides a full range of managed services for end-to-end management of assets, delivery & logistics management, training & reporting, and IT services.

“UV Angel is proud to be partnering with HPA as the distributor of our products in Australia,” said Tom Byrne, CEO UV Angel.” It is critical to understand that people are the major source of contamination and disease transmission. The recent pandemic continues to highlight the need to add engineered source-level controls at the point where contamination is occurring. Our technology has been specifically designed as an engineered source-level control system, operating independent of the other infection control measures, right at the room-level within occupied spaces. We are excited to expand our offering locally with HPA and support the wellbeing of a number of key sectors including healthcare, hospitality, and commercial businesses.”
