Tourism Accommodation Australia NSW has elected Staywell Holdings Group General Counsel, Richard Doyle, as its new state Chairman after former chair, Antony Page, opted to step down in order to relocate to Victoria.

Page will head south to take the reins of Ritz-Carlton Melbourne ahead of the hotel’s planned opening in 2021.

Doyle brings more than 25 years’ experience in accommodation and hospitality to the Chairman position and has handled the international legal requirements for Staywell Holdings since 2006 – during which time the company has grown significantly to a network comprising more than 35 properties in Australia, Singapore, India, Indonesia and elsewhere.

His elevation to the Chairman role and departure of Page has seen Radisson Hotel and Suites General Manager, Sally Burgess, join the TAA NSW Board of Directors.

TAA NSW Chief Executive, Michael Johnson, praised the efforts of Antony Page, saying he had done an amazing job during a very difficult period for the industry overall.

“[Page] has left the board to re-locate to Victoria and we wish him every success with the opening of the new Ritz Carlton in Melbourne in 2021,” Johnson said.

“Mr Doyle has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry, and, at a time when we are recovering from our worst trading period in living memory, will be a great support for our board and myself.”
