The TRYP by Wyndham Remarkables Park in Queenstown.

Two new hotels to be operated under the TRYP by Wyndham brand have been signed in New Zealand – marking the label’s introduction to the country.

The new signings include a 212-room TRYP by Wyndham Remarkables Park in Queenstown, with a 76-room TRYP by Wyndham Wellington to be built on Tory Street. Both will be developed by the Safari Group, already a longstanding franchise partner of Wyndham’s in the country. The company is underway with a project which will see Wyndham’s Ramada brand debut in the NZ capital.

TRYP Tory Street Wellington will reflect 1920s Chicago.

TRYP by Wyndham Remarkables Park in Queenstown will begin construction next year with a view to completion in 2023. The newbuild will combine hotel rooms with serviced apartments and offer views over the nearby mountains and ski slopes. The highly social brand will include mingling areas for guests to socialise after a day exploring the area.

North in Wellington, the TRYP by Wyndham Tory Street Wellington will also begin its development next year, however, is expected to be open a year later in March 2022. Reminiscent of ‘Old Chicago’, the property will reflect a 1920s art deco theme across its 76 rooms, with facilities to also include a fitness centre, conference space and a rooftop deck and spa. The hotel will be positioned around five minutes’ walk from the city’s bustling Cuba Street entertainment and dining precinct.

TRYP by Wyndham Remarkables Park Queenstown will feature 212 rooms.

The debut of TRYP follows the previously announced introduction of the LQ brand – a regional offshoot of the La Quinta brand – which will also debut in Queenstown.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts President, Asia Pacific, Joon Aun Ooi, said he was delighted at the opportunity for the company to grow its partnership with Safari Group and introduce the TRYP brand to New Zealand.

“New Zealand is a beautiful destination that enchants travellers with its stunning scenery and outdoor adventures,” he said.

“Prior to the pandemic, arrivals to the country were on the rise for six consecutive years. As the world reopens, Wyndham will be ready to welcome travellers back with industry-leading brands in the world’s most sought-after destinations.”
