Finalists have been announced in 41 categories for the 2020 HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence, presented by Sealy Posturepedic.
Once again, almost 50 HM Awards will be handed out in 2020, recognising excellence over a range of categories covering people and departments to properties and chains.
HM Awards founder and chief judge, James Wilkinson, said the calibre of entries this year was outstanding.
“It has been the most challenging year in history for the Australasian accommodation industry and throughout 2020 we have seen so many amazing staff impress more than ever,” he said.
“The entries this year – from chefs to housekeepers, five star resorts and apartment hotels – have been incredible and it has been terrific to see so many staff and properties highlight so many achievements in challenging times.”
Over 1,000 entries were received in 2020, only slightly down on 2019, and many are still being judged by a panel made up of over 20 industry professionals and travel media.
In the last 17 years, over 10,000 people have attended the HM Awards, presented by Sealy Posturepedic, and more than 780 awards have been won by hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Winners will be revealed at the 2020 HM Awards, presented by Sealy Posturepedic, gala presentation dinner at Hyatt Regency Sydney on Friday, November 27, 2020.
A limited number of in-person and virtual tickets are available for the event, which will also be broadcast live across the world for the first time.
