Lodge rooms have been fully refurbished ahead of Kakadu’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Kakadu National Park accommodation offering Cooinda Lodge has unveiled its new selection of refurbished lodge rooms and ‘glamping’ style tents ahead of the park’s 40th anniversary next month.

The upgrades show fully refreshed interiors of all Lodge rooms, which now offer new bathrooms, air-conditioning, lighting, furnishings and Indigenous-themed decorations. External and surrounding gardens have also been spruced up with new greenery and native vegetation.

In addition, Eco Structures Australia has also supplied 20 new luxury tents in response to the success of pop-up ‘Dreaming@HomeBillabong’ flash camping villages run over the past three dry seasons. Each tent has been constructed on a wooden platform to maximise year-round usability and to minimise environmental concerns.

Tents will be built on wooden platforms to minimise environmental damage.

Ten of the tents will be furnished with a queen bed only, with the other ten also featuring bunk beds to cater to families. Each tent features one solid wall with a sliding glass door leading on to an outdoor deck. Each will be fully powered with electric lighting, air-conditioning, a fan and bar fridge along with seating and cabinetry. The tents will be located near to a shared bathroom complex along with communal cooking facilities.

Cooinda Lodge will continue to offer access to a variety of tours and attractions to guests including Yellow Water Cruises and Spirit of Kakadu 4WD Tours, with a variety of special events due to take place over the celebratory 40th anniversary season.
