InterContinental Hotels Group has announced Australian expat Guy Heywood will take up the role of Chief Operating Officer at the company’s newly-acquired Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas group.
Heywood moves to the role from a similar position at Hyatt-owned Two Roads Hospitality brand Alila Hotels and Resorts, where he has worked for the past eight years. He brings over three decades’ experience in the hospitality industry to the new role.
Beginning his hospitality career at the InterContinental Sydney, Heywood moved on to the Regent Sydney before eventually settling in Bali as General Manager of Amankila in Bali. He has also held senior management roles in the United States as well as in Tropical North Queensland, where he became the Group General Manager of Voyages Hotels and Resorts in Cairns.
“The company has set new standards for thoughtful luxury, guest experience and environmental practices. This role is the ideal culmination of my past experiences all amalgamated into one,” Heywood commented.
