Report: Banyan Tree to manage three new Lindeman Island resorts

Reports are emerging that Banyan Tree has been named to manage three resorts on Lindeman Island.

Two brand new resorts and a residential complex are set to be developed on Queensland’s Lindeman Island, all managed by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, it is being reported today.

According to The Australian Business Review, the island’s owners White Horse Australia awarded the managerial rights to operate holiday accommodation on the island to the Singaporean brand. Other global hotel industry brands understood to be under consideration included Hilton, Marriott International, Four Seasons and Shangri-La.

According to an Environmental Impact Statement lodged with the Queensland government, InterContinental was also among the brand names being considered, however the brand will soon take over Hayman Island instead.

Construction of the Lindeman Island resorts will commence shortly after demolition of the former Club Med resort is completed. The Australian reports building firm Watpac has been selected as the firm responsible for developing the $600 million project.

Lindeman Island’s resorts are tipped to consist of a beach resort and an eco-resort which will be served by power and water from self-generating sources, the report states. The third development will be a collection of luxury residential villas also falling under Banyan Tree management.
