Former Quest Apartment Hotels CEO Zed Sanjana has been named as the new Chief Executive of Veriu Hotels and Punthill Hotels, tasked with continuing the expansion of the rapidly growing brand.

Sanjana is no stranger to overseeing the growth of a hotel brand, having steered Quest over a period of seven years through a period of meteoric growth in which it opened new apartment hotel outlets in 50 locations before then engineering a sale of the company to Singaporean based Ascott Limited.

He now takes charge at Veriu Hotels and Punthill Hotels, which together comprise a collection of 20 small to mid-size designer properties in CBD and inner-city suburbs of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Among these is the recently announced commencement of construction on the Veriu Green Square in the NSW capital, near Sydney Airport.

The Punthill brand, exclusively operating in the Melbourne market at the moment, is eyeing Sydney as a future destination for expansion, whereas conversely, Sanjana says he sees potential for the Veriu brand to make the move south into Melbourne, along with pushing both brands carefully into New Zealand.

“I’ve admired the growth path of Veriu for some time, and with its recent acquisition of Punthill it is now uniquely positioned to take advantage of the significant opportunities for expansion that exist in the market place.

“I look forward to continuing the growth of the portfolio and consolidating both Veriu and Punthill as recognised and respected national brands in the years ahead.”

Veriu Hotels Directors Rhys Williams and Alex Thorpe added their congratulations at the new appointment, saying Sanjana will provide a significant level of strategic direction to consolidate the business and position it for future growth.

Sanjana begins in his new role next Monday 27 August, 2018.
