City Edge Box Hill - Exterior 2 EDITED

Melbourne’s Box Hill has welcomed a new 4-star self-rated property, the City Edge Box Hill Apartment Hotel.

The national hotel group, which has four properties in Melbourne and one in Brisbane, cut the ribbon on 1 Elland Avenue recently (Aug 12).

City Edge Box Hill comprises 49 stylish apartments and the group’s CEO, Peter Cushen, said the company was thrilled to be opening its latest project.

“This exciting, brand new hotel will be the only one in the Box Hill central activities area,” he said.

“The concept, created by leading architects and apartment designers, has been built according to City Edge’s own specifications.

“City Edge Apartment Hotels has successfully built a recognised brand in the value-driven, online segment of the serviced apartment accommodation market.

“By understanding major trends and tailoring our business model accordingly, City Edge continues to experience excellent revenue and profit growth and in particular, we have excelled during the uncertain economic conditions of the last few years,” he said.

Cushen said the property provides comfortable, contemporary accommodation to business and leisure travelers at an affordable price, with an opening special of $109 per night.

Rooms include a mix of junior studio apartments (accessible), studio apartments, executive studio apartments and two bedroom apartments. Most apartments have a private balcony, offering views over Box Hill and surrounding areas.

City Edge Box Hill Property Manager, Poppy Han, said: “Box Hill is one of the fastest growing centres in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs.

City Edge Box Hill - Exterior “Its health, education, sporting, lifestyle and commercial facilities support a bustling community of more than 160,000 people who are located less than 15km from Melbourne’s CBD.

“It’s a dynamic, exciting place to live and work, and we’re proud to be joining the community.

“We’ve identified a genuine need for new, value accommodation in the area to support the many visitors travelling to Box Hill every day. We expect to contribute over 20 jobs and guide more tourism to Box Hill which in turn will contribute to local restaurants, shopping centres and retailers,” Han said.

City Edge Box Hill was developed by Link Developments and occupies levels one to three of a residential building.

City Edge has been in operation since 1995 and is owned by husband-and-wife team Peter and Irena Cushen.
