Exclusive by James Wilkinson in Bangkok

A hybrid hotel development model known as ‘manchising’ is taking Asia Pacific by storm as owners and investors look increasingly at shorter brand contracts and more flexibility.

Manchising, which was discussed extensively at AHICE 2015 and whereby an owner is signed-on to a management contract for a number of fixed years before the contract is converted to a franchise agreement, has been the biggest talking point at this week’s 2016 Carlson Rezidor Asia Pacific Business Conference at the Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok and it is showing no signs of slowing down.

Speaking exclusively to HM on video, Carlson Asia Pacific President Thorsten Kirschke, said manchising had recently become a booming development model.

He said owners and investors wanted a more tailored approach to deals and right now manchising was a perfect mix for many.

In the video, she also spoke about plans for Radisson Red, development expectations, performance and much more.
