Pushed by a wide array of incentives generated by the Ecuadorean government, hotel investment is booming in Ecuador in anticipation of increased arrivals, in particular of high-spending luxury tourists.

The country currently has US$350 million in new hotel investment, mainly in first class hotels and accommodations, for a total of over 1,800 rooms to be added within the next three years.

Among the projects expected for the coming years are the Swissôtel Guayaquil, the Wyndham Grand Condor at Quito airport, the Sheraton Cuenca and the Guayaquil Marriott.

Some of the most important projects that will be developed in the country during the next few years include an US$80 million 200-room project on the Guayas Coast, a US$50 million 500-room project in Manabí Manta and a US$25 million 121-room Best Western also at Manabí Manta.

The Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito will soon welcome four new hotels, including a 146-room Wyndham Hotel Group property and a 130-room Holiday Inn opening early next year, and a five star Hotel Eurobuilding Express property and a 150-room Hilton opening in San Patricio between the airport and the city scheduled to open in 2017.
