East Hotel has announced a partnership with the Canberra Hospital Foundation to assist patients and their families at Canberra Hospital with emergency accommodation.
Located between the shopping and restaurant hubs of Manuka and Kingston, minutes from the Parliamentary triangle and notable national attractions, East Hotel is also just a short distance from the Canberra Hospital.
The six-story hotel has 140 rooms in various studio and apartment-style combinations, recognizing the challenges families can face with hotel accommodation by providing specially designated suites.
East Hotel is owned by the Bisa family, a local Canberra family, who are passionate about their Canberra heritage and are honoured to support the Canberra community by offering free, emergency short term accommodation for families and carers of patients of the Canberra Hospital.
The emergency accommodation is particularly aimed at families who are from interstate and may unexpectedly need to stay overnight, close to the Canberra Hospital, due to injury or illness of a loved one who is being cared for at the Canberra Hospital.
“We are very fortunate to be able to offer a helping hand to families who find themselves in a position where emergency accommodation is required. It is an honour to partner with the Canberra Hospital Foundation to enable us to support families at such a crucial time when their greatest concern should be their family member who is receiving treatment at the Canberra Hospital,” said Dan Bisa, owner of East Hotel and Director of Bisa Hotels and Dion Bisa, Assistant General Manager of East Hotel.
“Our goal is to ensure these families are able to concentrate on their loved one, without having to consider the logistics and expense of finding accommodation at a difficult time in their lives.

ACT Minister for Health, Simon Corbell, has welcomed the announcement.
“The Canberra Hospital offers world class health care not only for residents of Canberra but for those in surrounding regions and people travelling from interstate,” he said
“The generosity of the Bisa family and East Hotel in providing emergency accommodation such as this, is yet another example of the determination of the Canberra community to ease the burden of people who find themselves in an unexpected emergency situation.
“This accommodation will allow these families to concentrate on their loved one rather than spending valuable time and expense in finding accommodation,” Corbell said.
