Sofitel So Spa massage - EDITED

Sofitel Luxury Hotels has extended its worldwide So Spa by Sofitel concept in the Pacific this week (July 9), unveiling its latest So Spa offering at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.

So Spa by Sofitel, is a global spa concept designed exclusively for Sofitel hotels worldwide. It was first launched at the Sofitel London St. James and Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port in July 2009, and the Pacific region welcomed its first with the opening of the So Spa Auckland at the Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour in August 2013.

A sanctuary for guests with water views, Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa’s So Spa precinct boasts nine exclusive beachside bures, including specially created couples rooms, beautiful bures with outdoor garden showers, plus a private sauna, whirlpool and juice bar retreat.

The resort also features the world’s first ever Pure Fiji concept store onsite, and will use this product to inspire its own Fijian range of complementary So Spa treatments.

To head up its new So Spa operation, Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa has appointed one of Fiji’s best regarded and most experienced luxury spa therapists, Sonia Prasad.

Since graduating as ‘Student of the Year’ from the South Pacific Academy of Beauty Therapy in 2001, Prasad has worked with many resort and spa operators across the Fiji Islands including the Westin Heavenly Spa and Senikai.

Prasad said she is delighted to be introducing the So Spa concept to Fiji, and a new spa menu which will feature elements of the global So Spa menu offering, alongside the destination’s famous ‘Pure Fiji’ branded products and local Fijian inspired treatments and rituals.

“The global So Spa menu has been designed to help guests relax, restore and rejuvenate,” said Prasad. “The concept combines ancient wellness traditions from around the world with the refinement and skills of modern French cosmetology. Each detail clearly reflects the Sofitel concept of elegance and beauty fused with French ‘savoir vivre’.

“Personally, I am looking forward to infusing and extending the menu to also embrace the beautiful local fragrances, ingredients and traditions of Fiji, so that our guests have the option to choose from a European or more organic local experience while visiting the Sofitel.”

Taking a personalised approach to wellness, So Spa’s selection of therapies are categorised in a similar way to a French gourmet restaurant menu so guests can customize their experience by combining different treatments listed under ‘Starters’, ‘Mains’, ‘Specials’ and ‘Desserts’ to suit their specific wellness needs.

Treatments listed under ‘Starters’ last 30 minutes and are designed for busy urbanites seeking rest and relaxation after a full day. ‘Main Dishes’ and ‘Desserts’ last an hour and feature full body massages, facial care, and other luxurious treatments intended to nourish the body and soul.
