Pullman Auckland General Manager, Rob McIntyre, has been named the AHS Hospitality New Zealand Hotel Industry Senior Hotel Executive of the Year 2014.

This major accolade, presented to Rob at the New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference dinner last week (Jun 5), comes hot on the heels of his win as NZ General Manager of the Year at the 2013 HM Awards.

An experienced and passionate hotelier, McIntyre has been at the helm of Pullman Auckland since 2011 and successfully grown the business to become one of Auckland’s top 5-star hotels in the country.

“I am honoured to be recognised in an industry of such passionate service professionals,” McIntyre said.

Awards judge and TIA Sector Manager Hotels, Sally Attfield said, “Rob is known for his charm and tenacity. He is always keen to stay ahead of the competition and improve guest services.

“For example, the hotel’s mobile phone application was a first for New Zealand hotels, giving guests the ability to review menus, order room service, learn about hotel events and stay in touch with the hotel from their mobile phone.

“The introduction of free WiFiwas another bold move that impressed the industry,” Attfield said.

Fellow judge, Stephen Hamilton, Director of Horwath HTL, said McIntyre has an excellent management and leadership style and has introduced a culture of change into the Pullman Auckland.

“An innovator, he is prepared to take risks and be creative. He has also shown a willingness to contribute to New Zealand’s wider hotel sector, including participating in the Qualmark 5 star advisory board and development of the tourism industry’s Tourism 2025 growth framework,” Hamilton said.

“He also played a significant part in the Accor recovery team, set up following the 2011 Christchurch earthquake,” he said.

HM was a proud silver sponsor of the New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference again in 2014.
