Mercure Portsea Resort EDITED

Accor is set to open its first hotel in Victoria’s coastal resort town Portsea, with the opening of Mercure Portsea Golf Club and Resort, located 1.5 hours south of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula.

Opening this Saturday, June 1, 2013, the new-build Mercure Portsea Golf Club and Resort has been developed by Portsea Golf Club as part of a fully integrated multi-million dollar development incorporating a new Club house, accommodation and function complex.

The Mercure offers 24 state-of-the-art accommodation rooms and excellent facilities for both business and leisure travellers, including an on-site restaurant and conference facilities that can cater for corporate events, meetings and weddings for up to 300 people.

Accor’s Duncan Mars has been appointed Hotel General Manager of the property and is confident the Mercure will be beneficial for both the Golf Club and Portsea’s tourism industry.

“By partnering with Portsea Golf Club it has enabled us to add to Portsea’s tourism offering and cater to the growing demand for premium accommodation by leisure travellers. The Mercure will also provide new opportunities to build the meetings and events market in the region, which is already on the rise with a number of weddings and conferences booked at the hotel before it has opened, which is very encouraging,” said Mercure Portsea General Manager, Duncan Mars.

Boasting panoramic views of Port Phillip Bay, the 4 star Mercure has been developed alongside a new golf clubhouse, members lounge and an improved golf course design.

President of Portsea Golf Club, Haywood Richards, believes modern facilities combined with sweeping views will ensure Portsea Golf Club is regarded as one of the leading golf clubs in the country.

“With a new clubhouse, members lounge, world class facilities and boutique accommodation rooms, the club will cater for local, interstate and international golfers. In addition, the redevelopment will enable the club to utilise the outstanding facilities for weddings and corporate functions,” Richards said.

Perfect for golfing getaways, the Mercure offers a ‘Play & Stay’ package which includes 18 holes of golf, one nights’ accommodation for two in a King Rooms with balcony overlooking the golf course.

Open daily for all meals, Spike Restaurant offers modern cuisine using fresh local produce through its seasonal a la carte menus. The restaurant features an extensive wine list, showcasing wines from the best of Australia’s wine regions, including the Mornington Peninsula’s own Red Claw Pinot Noir.

The hotel caters to conferences, events and weddings with conference day packages available from AUD$55 per person and wedding packages starting from AUD$135 per person cocktail style and AUD$155 per person sit down.

Room rates at Mercure Portsea start from AUD$169 per night.
