Country Comfort Perth is set to undergo a AUD$14million upgrade following approval of a development application that takes the hotel’s capacity from 99 to 161 rooms.
According to SilverNeedle, the upgrade is in direct response due to demand from the mining and resource sector, with the property operating at or near 100% occupancy and room rates having doubled over the past two years.
“Country Comfort Perth’s close proximity to the airport is driving unprecedented demand from fly-in-fly-out miners who are looking for a well serviced, quality hotel that is conveniently positioned,” said SilverNeedle Hospitality’s Vice President of Operations, Jonathan Wooller.
“The property is experiencing significant year on year growth in occupancy and RevPAR.”
In addition to offering an airport shuttle bus service, the hotel is servicing the mining clientele with a fine dining restaurant offering. The restaurant has undergone major refurbishments and the food and beverage menu tailored to appease hungry miners who often enjoy their last à-la-carte meal at the hotel before flying out to the mines.
The refurbishment of Country Comfort Perth comes as SilverNeedle Hospitality announced the addition of seven new properties to their portfolio, including two properties in Townsville, an area that is also experiencing room shortages due to the mining boom. The Country Comfort Townsville and Chifley Plaza Hotel Townsvillle both opened on 1st May. An Australis Resort in Coffs Harbour, and three Sundowner Motor Inn properties in Albury, Warrnambool and Naracoorte also opened in recent months.
