Fiji is set to get a AUD$290 million integrated resort – featuring a casino under the first ever gaming licence to be issued in the country – on Denarau Island after US-based developer One Hundred Sands Limited was given the green light for the project from the Fijian Government.

The Fijian Prime Minister, Commodore Josaia Voreque ‘Frank’ Bainimarama, has officially launched Wyndham’s FJD$49 million expansion of the company’s WorldMark Resort on Denarau Island, saying the development is significant for tourism growth in the country.
Fiji’s Vomo Island Hawksbill Turtle Protection Program has registered another successful release of a young-adult turtle into the wild. Born on Vomo Island in July 2009, the turtle was one of hundreds hatched on the island and were cared for and raised until old enough to be released into the ocean.
