InterContinental Sydney Bimbadgen 2

InterContinental Sydney is pouring the ultimate in immersive tasting, partnering with winery Bimbadgen to present the hotel’s first Bimbadgen Pop-up Cellar Door.

Both wine enthusiasts and the curious-minded will be immersed in the bespoke pop-up cellar door, which is running until September 30 inside InterContinental Sydney’s lobby gallery.

Not your average winery pop-up outlet, Bimbadgen has evoked a sense of prestige and intrigue with the fitout themed by renowned Sydney designers, Tania Handelsmann and Gillian Khaw.

Featuring no less than 35 barrels from the Bimbadgen winery in a dramatic display, visitors will experience a sensory exploration of the award-winning winery.

Two of Bimbadgen’s highly experienced wine professionals will be showcasing the collection of wines daily, engaging visitors with the winery’s rich history, insider tasting notes and tasting of the brand’s most celebrated wines.

Guests will experience the Estate Semillon, Estate Chardonnay, Estate Shiraz, Signature Semillon, Signature Chardonnay, Sparkling Semillon and Sparkling Rose. Key among the collection is the Bimbadgen 2012 Vintage Blanc de Blancs, made from 100% Chardonnay in the Methode Traditionelle. The Bimbadgen showcase will also pay tribute to the Museum of Contemporary Art’s (MCA) new collection of anniversary art labels launching in September, giving guests exclusive insight into the art’s narrative and history.

“Experiential travel has evolved into an industry segment in its own right,” said InterContinental Sydney General Manager, Jörg T Böckeler.

“We know that over 72 per cent of guests would rather invest in experiences than things; they are specifically seeking authentic experiences to deepen their connection with the destination.

“Australia is home to some of the most distinguished wineries and culinary offerings so it is wonderful to bring the Bimbadgen Pop-up Cellar Door to our city, bringing the experience to life in an interactive and immersive way for guests,” he said.

The pop-up celebrates a trio of anniversaries with InterContinental’s 70th birthday, the MCA’s 25th and Bimbadgen’s 15th anniversary as an MCA partner and will be opened 12:00pm to 7:30pm daily.
