Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns has reopened 36 newly refurbished Horizon Club rooms and Cairns’ biggest and most sophisticated club lounge in a five-star hotel, after a much-anticipated million dollar renovation.

The Horizon Club Lounge on Mezzanine Level, is now doubled in size at 272 square metres and includes a dedicated executive boardroom with state-of-the-art AV facilities.

The expanded space now encompasses dedicated lounge, bar and dining areas with mix of comfortable seating catering for groups, couples, families and friends. The luxurious lounge boasts a hand-crafted feature wall of laser cut blonde timber panels, which was inspired by the Great Barrier Reef and mimics the mesmerizing ocean landscape. Combined with the bright, geometric design of the custom-dyed carpet, the lounge sets a new level of luxury in Cairns.

The Horizon Club premium hotel rooms have a fresh contemporary design, featuring a pale yellow and blue décor theme to reflect the vibrant colours of the Marlin Marina. Blonde timber floors and white panelled wardrobe doors and walls add to the modern, luxurious palate. Each premium room has a large marina facing balcony, a mini-bar, dresser with chair and an executive desk with built-in multi-plug international sockets and complimentary WiFi Internet access. Bathrooms each have a luxurious bath with a view of the Marina, and new vanities with illuminated mirrors.

The sustainable room design includes smart controlled air-conditioning and lighting systems, which creates increased energy efficiency and faster operation for guests.

Grace Lei Guo, director of Sydney design firm Stack Studio, headed the redesign, having completed several high-profile Shangri-La hotel projects around the world.
