When it comes to leaders in the hotel business, few are entrenched to the level Carlson’s Chair, Diana L Nelson is.

Since May, 2013, Nelson has been the Chair of Carlson, one of the largest privately held companies in the world, encompassing more than 1,350 hotels in operation and under development in over 105 countries and territories and Carlson Wagonlit Travel, a global leader in business travel management operating in more than 150 countries and territories.

She’s also only the third person in the company’s more than 75-year history to serve as Chair and is preceded in the role only by her mother, Marilyn
Carlson Nelson, and her grandfather, company founder Curtis L. Carlson.

At Carlson’s recent Asia Pacific Business Conference at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in in Chongqing, China, Nelson provided inspirational speeches to the more than 100 General Managers and key staff in attendance, and while there sat down for a global exclusive and rare video interview with HM magazine.

HM will be screening the video in two parts, and in part one released today, she talks about recent changes in the company, the growth of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, loyalty, the importance of China and much more.
